Re-Elect Supervisor Mark Lesko on Tuesday, November 3, 2009

Objectives

  • Hold the Line on Taxes  - Mark Lesko has introduced a zero-tax increase budget for 2010.  He will make sure Brookhaven keeps the lowest taxes of any town in Suffolk County and the highest bond rating in our history, which allows Brookhaven to receive better interest rates, saving taxpayers millions of dollars.

  • Cut Spending  - Mark has already cut spending by $6 million.  He will continue to cut spending by eliminating political patronage positions and making sure that managers are hired based on competence, in order to make government more efficient.

  • Grow Brookhavenıs Economy  - Mark has a plan to attract new high-tech industry that will add to our tax base, reducing residential taxes and providing good, high-paying jobs.  He will continue to reform Brookhavenıs Economic Development team where he has brought in proven job creators.

  • Protect our Quality of Life  - Mark will expand the Quality of Life Task Force to take back more neighborhoods.  He will enforce the Child Protection Act to protect children from sexual predators by prohibiting sex offenders from living within a quarter mile of a school, park or playground, requiring sex offenders to move quicker if they violate the law and developing a database to track the offenders.

  • Push for digital mapping of sex offenders Town-wide.

  • Make Brookhaven National Labs and Stony Brook University as incubators for local green technology jobs.

  • Continue cutting patronage jobs and wasteful spending at Town Hall.

  • Reform the Townıs Website. Mark will promote a transparent online Town Hall, with full meeting agendas with related staff materials.

  • Enhance our downtowns.

  • Pass a Whistleblower Act.

  • Promote transit-oriented growth and redevelopment.
